Which type of forgiveness is the most important? Forgivinnig yourself, to get forgiveness from the victim or maybe God’s forgiveness?
Three people are trying to deal with their past.
Jonas is living an ordinary life with his girlfriend Laura. But he’s acting strange according to Laura. Jonas on the other hand is doubting if Laura is even really there.
Esther is living some sort of twisted day to day life with her high school sweetheart, the forever young, Noah. And everything is the way it allways has been, but yet not. Esther is confused – Isn’t Noah dead?
WomanX is living everything but an ordinary life with Woman2. They are dealing with great confusion. They don’t know where they are, who they are or where they’re coming from.
These three people are trying to get through the day. But nothing is what it seems like. Gradually we understand that Jonas, Esther and WomanX have done the unforgivable; they have caused another person’s death. They are living in a surreal existence where the boundarys between reality and fantasy is gone, all three of them haunted by someone from their past.
Is it right to take someones life during some circumstances and during others not? Was it wrong of Esther saving her own life by turning in her best friend to the SS-soldiers in Nazi-Germany? WomanX´s stepfather slowely killed her mental and emotionaly during her childhood by repeatedly raping her. Was it still wrong of WomanX having her alterego Woman2 killing her stepfather?
The one thing connecting these three people is their inner fight and striving towards atonement. Which type of forgiveness is the most important? Forgivinnig yourself, to get forgiveness from the victim or maybe God’s forgiveness? Everyone else seems to think Jonas should forgive himself for accidentally killing his pregnant girlfriend Laura in the carcrash. Everyone ecxcept for Jonas himself. Is it even possible to talk about right and wrong or forgiveness when it comes to what Esther did during a time when killing was part of the everyday life?
How does their moral and ethical idea about forgiveness affect them from finding atonement?
